West Virginia Fire Chiefs Association: More Funding Needed for EMS and Fire Departments

Randy James, President of the West Virginia State Fire Chief’s Association and Chairman, delivered testimony to the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Volunteer Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services committee today, emphasizing the need for additional funding. James noted volunteer fire departments have seen roughly the same funding since 2005 from the state, and EMS agencies still don’t have a state-level funding mechanism.

James highlighted the fundraising burden on volunteer agencies, saying it impedes valuable training time.
